3. Kirk Publishing Company - owned a number of titles including Notts Echo. Really enjoyed it - "happy time". Trained to be journalist but never quite qualified (he deferred National Service). He used to do his story hunting in the morning, race off to Trent Bridge and watch the cricket from 12-2pm, then back to the office to write up the stories and back to the cricket after their lunch!
