Notes

1. (Research):Joseph's death certificate has the surname Blackner. However, the date is 4 days before the funeral of Joseph and his age at 80 (1783-84) years ties in with his christening if not yet his birth. Quite what he was doing in a work house needs further investigation, especially as his wife Elizabeth was still alive. Joseph Blacknell's recorded age in 1841 census was 60. However, with the 5 years rounding down rule this could mean 1775-1781. Other entries on that page however, show ages like 24,58, 31 - so it might be the recorder didn't follow the 1841 census rules. So aged exactly 60 would mean he was born 1780-1781. If he was indeed born 1780 then he would have been 84 at death, not 80, if this certificate is for the same Joseph. Joseph Blackner Joseph Blacknell Joseph's age in 1851 census recorded as 57 (1793-94); [Note Record]
2. (Research):Likely to have been born between 1/1/1788 and 3/4/1788. Death certificate age and 1871 census age 84 in both cases 1851 census records Elizabeth's age as 53 (1797-98); [Note Record]
3. (Research):An Elizabeth Blacknall was married Basford Q3 1856; [Note Record]
4. (Medical):Inquest held 20 Oct 1898; [Note Record]
5. (Research):1901 census records head of household as Harry. Almost certainly a typo as age, birthplace matches, as do ages/birthplaces of Clara, Harry, Ethel & Frank; [Note Record]
6. (Research):1851 census gives Richard's age as 53 (1797-8) but his christening was 1796. The 1841 census rounds his age down to 45 (nearest 5 years) which infers 1796-1800; [Note Record]
7. (Research):185/59 are possibly the same William Blacknell; [Note Record]
8. (Medical):Phthisis - 1. a wasting away; 2. pulmonary tuberculosis; consumption - http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/Phthisis; [Note Record]
9. (Research):Calverton parish burial record for Frederic Blacknell 16-Jun-1853. Could this be the same child. His future brother William also died very young.; [Note Record]
10. (Medical):Hydrothorax - the presence of serous [of watery nature] fluid in one or both pleural [lung lining] cavities - https://www.dictionary.com/browse/hydrothorax; [Note Record]
11. They had 3 boarders at the time of the 1861 census; [Note Record]
12. (Research):1861 census lists Elizabeth as born in Calverton 1871,1901 censuses list Elizabeth as born in Woodborough; [Note Record]
13. (Research):1881 Census has Matthew Binch married to Jane Binch with 3 children. Age of Jane ties with Jane Blacknell; [Note Record]
14. Born out of county (NTT); [Note Record]
15. Birth was registered late on 12 Aug 1854 (4 months after birth, legal limit was 6 weeks); [Note Record]
